Hi Oliver,

1) Indeed, we don't need your credit card information for the hotel reservation anymore. The room reservation is based on mutual trust.
2) OK. I have cc'ed the email to Gaurav. He should know that.
3) If you didn't go through the registration, nothing will be recorded about your choices or personal information.We should send you later a confirmation email about your successful registration. If you don't receive it, that means nothing has been done by you or us.

I hope these will explain. You response is quite helpful for us to find the problems of our website.

As regards payment of the registration fee, I will wait for answer from the IGS CB.  I have no indication of any charges made to my acocunt so far, but might have to wait for a few more days to be 100% sure.

Given the failed (?) payment in my first attempt, I'm not sure whether the registration process was fully aborted or whether some inputs remain in your system. What I would like to avoid is, e.g. a duplicate hotel reservation, if I restart the process from scratch at a later time.

So sorry for so much inconvenience. We have made revisions on our website settings.

1) I think the banner connection problem has been resolved by IGS.
2) We originally think the 'billing address' filled in by registrants on our website could be conveyed to PayPal. But it seems that this is a bad design which makes the registration process confusing. We now remove all credit card information request on our website, but directly lead registrants to PayPal. The registrants will then fill in the "billing address" only once. Note that the address we requested on the first page of the registration is your institutional address.

For your seemingly "failed" payment, I don't have a way to check if it is successful or not since the payment is through UNAVCO. Allison may have an answer for this.

The first pitfall I encountered originates from the IGS entry page.
When clicking the workshop banner on "http://www.igs.org/", I'm forwarded to "http://igsworkshop2018.gnsswhu.cn/". This is again the insecure website version and should be shut down quickly! The correct link would be "https://igsworkshop2018.gnsswhu.cn/".

The second problem relates to credit card payments. In the registration process two forms with credit card details showed up, the first one on the IGS server, the second at paypal. Only the first asked for the security code, but the second asked for the billing address (with obsolete telephone number and state as mandatory!! item). I'm not sure why credit card details are requested twice and I'm not sure whether the <billing> address is my institute's address (that will ultimately pay the registration fee) or my private address (on which my credit card is registered). In any case, I received an error message that a problem was encountered and my payment was not accepted. I have no Idea, to what extent my registration was processed and whether registration credit card details have been retained from the first web page (e.g. for hotel booking).

Please advise how I should proceed!
