Dear IGS Members,
Last week during the 57A Governing Board (GB) Meeting, the GB Members
elected and appointed 4 new members for the IGS GB. Please join us in
welcoming our newest members for the 2021-2023 period.
*1) **Dr. Elisabetta D’Anastasio* as *new IERS representative and
Appointed Member of the Governing Board*. Dr. D’Anastasio works as part of
the Science Operations and Data team at GNS Science. She possesses 20 years
of experience in working with geodetic data applied to geophysics and
geohazards monitoring, and has led the development and operations of
continuous GNSS networks at national scale and the development of automated
systems for GNSS data, metadata and products generation.
*2) **Dr. José Antonio Tarrío-Mosquera** as Appointed Member of the
Governing Board*. Dr. Tarrío-Mosquera is an academic researcher at the
University of Santiago de Chile and a current member of SIRGAS. He
possesses over 20 years of experience in GNSS and Geodesy, particularly in
active and passive geodetic surveys with scientific processing of GNSS
observables.
*3) **Capt. Benjamin Patrick Michael** as the new Data Center
Coordinator*. Capt Michael currently serves as the Manager for the Crustal
Dynamics Data Information System (CDDIS), NASA’s world premier repository
of space geodynamics and space geodesy data, and previously was on the
faculty of the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. His
current research interests are varied and include: nucleation of high
temperature materials, energy transfer in planetary atmospheres and the
application of space geodetics to terrestrial geodynamical phenomena.
*4) **Dr. Salim Masoumi** as our new co-Analysis Center Coordinator*.
Dr. Masoumi is a GNSS Analyst at Geoscience Australia, and obtained his PhD
from The Australian National University in 2017. His research includes
modeling of tropospheric horizontal gradients in GPS for weather
applications, application of GNSS-RO for tropopause studies, and GNSS-RO
applications for electron density retrieval.
We would like to acknowledge the following members for extensions to their
GB terms for the 2021-2024 period.
- *Dr. Qile Zhao *(Wuhan University, China) as an Appointed Member of
the GB
- *Dr. Paul Rebischung* (Institut National de l’Information Géographique
et Forestière, France) as IGS Reference Frame Coordinator
- *Dr. Simon Banville* (Natural Resources Canada / Ressources naturelles
Canada) as the PPP-AR Working Group Chair
- *Dr. Tim Springer* (ESA/European Space Operations Center, Germany) as
the IGMA-IGS Joint GNSS Monitoring and Assessment Trial Project and
Satellite Vehicle Orbit Dynamics Working Group Chair
- *Dr. Oliver Montenbruck* (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt,
Germany) as the Multi-GNSS Working Group Chair
- *Dr. André Hauschild* (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und
Raumfahrt,Germany) as the Real-time Working Group Chair
- *Dr. Tilo Schöne* (Deutsches GeoForschungsZentrum, Germany) as the
TIGA Working Group Chair
- *Dr. Andrzej Krankowski* (University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn,
Poland) as our Ionosphere Working Group Chair
- *Dr. Arturo Villiger* (Astronomical Institute, University of
Bern,Switzerland) as the Antenna Working Group Chair
- *Dr. Stefan Schaer* (Federal Office of Topography, Switzerland) as the
Calibration & Bias Working Group Chair
Finally, we would like to wish a happy retirement to colleagues Chuck
Meertens and Carey Noll and thank them one more time for the many years of
service to the IGS and the GNSS community in general.
Wishing you a Happy Holiday and a joyful New Year. Best wishes from your
colleagues at IGS Central Bureau. As always, feel free to contact if you
