[IGSMAIL-8005] IGS Workshop Postponed to 2022

Dear IGS Members,



*The IGS Workshop, *scheduled for September 2021, *has been postponed to
2022*, as it was determined per majority of votes during our 57A Governing
Board (GB) Meeting last week. As you may recall, the IGS Workshop,
originally intended to take place this year, was postponed to 2021 due to
travel restrictions associated with the novel COVID-19. You can find the

As we all know, many uncertainties remain with respect to travel
restrictions and vaccination distribution. Consequently, the GB discussed
alternative options to a “in-person” meeting, such as conducting a “hybrid”
(part in person, part remote) and/or a virtual workshop (fully remote).
However, given the community feedback obtained through our online poll,
combined with the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) in Boulder and the GB
assessments, it was concluded that the collaborative nature of the workshop
will be greatly impacted by following these options. It was therefore
decided to postpone the workshop to a “in-person” event in 2022, while
hosting a series of virtual talks throughout 2021.  More information on
specific dates will be shared as soon as we confirm availability with the
LOC.



We want to thank you all for your patience with this process. We also want
to extend our utmost appreciation to the Boulder Workshop LOC for their
continued support to the IGS Workshop despite the many vicissitudes in the
process.
