The Faculty of Aerospace Engineering and Geodesy of the University of
Stuttgart invites applications for the position of
Professor (W3) of Geodetic Space Techniques
The Chair of Geodetic Space Techniques is affiliated with the Institute of
Geodesy.
Successful applicants represent the broad area of geodetic space techniques
in teaching and in research. Their research portfolio covers the methodology
of geodetic space techniques like GNSS, VLBI, SLR, satellite altimetry,
DORIS and InSAR. Research excellence is demonstrated in one or more aspects
of the entire process chain from sensor technology and geodetic data
processing to applications like global reference systems, Earth rotation and
geokinematics. The successful applicant will teach courses on geometric
geodesy (Satellite Geodesy, Reference Systems, Geodetic Space Techniques) in
the German BSc- and MSc-programs Geodäsie & Geoinformatik as well as in the
international MSc-program GEOENGINE.
The faculty is looking for an internationally renowned expert on the
aforementioned research areas. Leadership, excellent didactical skills and
dedication to university service are a prerequisite to the position. We
expect the successful applicant to develop a vigorous research program in
cooperation with partners within faculty and with other institutions on
campus. Moreover, collaboration with academic and industrial partners
outside the University of Stuttgart is highly desirable. A workable
knowledge of the German language is expected from non-native German speakers
after an appropriate period of time.
The requirements for employment listed in § 47 and § 50 Baden-Württemberg
university law apply.
Written applications should be sent as one PDF file no later than
15.01.2018, to the Dean, Prof. Dr. Volker Schwieger, University of
Stuttgart, Institute of Engineering Geodesy, Geschwister-Scholl-Str. 24D,
