[IGSMAIL-8739] CODE ionosphere predictions (GIM.INX) using long filenames at CDDIS and at AIUB

Dear colleagues,

CODE has been generating ionospheric predictions (Global Ionosphere Maps in IONEX data format) for a long time. An updated version of Guidelines_for_Long_Product_Filenames_in_the_IGS_v2.2_EN.pdf<https://files.igs.org/pub/resource/guidelines/Guidelines_for_Long_Product_Filenames_in_the_IGS_v2.2_EN.pdf> now allows, specifically for predicted product files (see 'Pnu'), to map the short filenames to long ones. The old/new naming convention used for the two product lines, predictions 1 day ahead and 2 days ahead, is as follows:

  c1pg{ddd}0.{yy}i.Z > COD0OPSP0D_{yyyyddd}0000_01D_01H_GIM.INX.gz
  c2pg{ddd}0.{yy}i.Z > COD0OPSP1D_{yyyyddd}0000_01D_01H_GIM.INX.gz

We are currently using both naming conventions. Furthermore, we have uploaded all corresponding daily files with long filenames from the official transition date (2022:331) onwards. In order to allow users a transition period, we are now waiting until mid of September 2026, when the old file versions (c[12]pg{ddd}0.{yy}.Z) are scheduled to be permanently removed from the CDDIS archive: https://cddis.nasa.gov/archive/gnss/ionosphere/, or https://cddis.nasa.gov/archive/gnss/ionex/, where the CODE product files mentioned can be found.

This change also affects the CODE analysis product archive at AIUB (https://download.aiub.unibe.ch/). Please be reminded once again that our ftp server has been replaced by a cloud-based solution (as announced in [IGSMAIL-8642] Server switch for downloading products from AIUB at CODE<https://lists.igs.org/pipermail/igsmail/2025/008638.html>).

For users of the product category mentioned above, please note that we started making in addition ionosphere predictions 5 days ahead, called

  COD0OPSP4D_{yyyyddd}0000_01D_01H_GIM.INX.gz,

publicly available (so far, only at Index of /CODE<https://code.aiub.unibe.ch/s3_script/aiub_s3_bucket_listing.php?path=CODE>). This product could also be helpful in bridging any service interruptions lasting several days.

Additional note: For users who consider CODE GIM.INX files with the label 'PRD' from the AIUB archive (i.e., COD0OPSPRD_{yyyyddd}0000_01D_01H_GIM.INX.gz), it is important to emphasize that these will also be removed/discontinued in mid-September 2026, because these are substituted by the new 'Pnu' filenames, where it is now clear which of the predicted product lines (P0D, P1D, P4D) it belongs to.
