[IGSMAIL-8513] Call for Nomination – SVOD Committee Chair

Dear Colleagues,

The IGS Standing Elections Committee (SEC) and Governing Board (GB) are pleased to open a Call for Nomination for the position of “Satellite Vehicle Orbit Dynamics” (SVOD) Committee Chair.

The SVOD Committee, former SVOD Working Group (WG), is dealing with many aspects concerning spacecraft orbit dynamics and attitude modelling (e.g., solar radiation effects, thermal force effects, Earth radiation force effects, antenna thrust, or satellite attitude behaviour). A formalised and coordinated effort is of direct benefit to IGS Community through the betterment of IGS Products for the benefit of their users, especially keeping in mind the recent increase in constellations and space assets. Details about the current state of the SVOD Committee can be found at https://igs.org/wg/svod/.

As per the IGS Terms of Reference, the term of chairing a Committee or WG is four years with the option to renew.

This Call for Nomination ends on the 4th of November 2024; after this, the SEC will organise and verify nominations. Candidates will be contacted to confirm their interest and asked to provide a curriculum vitae, statement of intent, and letter of support from their organisation. Candidates will then be submitted to the IGS Governing Board for approval, with a vote closing on the 1st of December 2024 at 2359 UTC.
