Dear colleagues,
Due to the switch to the IGS20/igs20.atx framework on GPS week 2238, the last release of the current IGS cumulative SINEX solution, based on the IGb14/igs14.atx framework, will be that of GPS week 2237, namely IGS22P47.snx.
As announced in [ https://lists.igs.org/pipermail/igsmail/2022/008234.html, | [IGSMAIL-8238] ] , the weekly updates of the IGS cumulative solution will then halt for a few months, while the repro3 product series is extended up to GPS week 2237. I t is now expected that updates of the IGS cumulative solution resume in February 2023, based on a complete up-to-date series of solutions compliant with IGS20/igs20.atx and the repro3 standards.
Meanwhile, a first release of the "new" IGS cumulative solution, compliant with IGS20/igs20.atx and the repro3 standards, can be found at ftp://igs-rf.ign.fr/pub/igs20_tests , where the following files are available for download:
* IGS0OPSSNX_1994002_2020366_00U_SOL.SNX.gz : Cumulative SINEX solution (3.6 GB)
* IGS0OPSSNX_1994002_2020366_00U_CRD.SNX.gz : Cumulative SINEX solution without covariance matrix
* soln.snx : Associated discontinuity list
* psd_IGS.snx : Associated post-seismic deformation models
* igsR3_to_igs20_offsets.txt : Station position offsets applied to input daily repro3 SINEX solutions in order to account for "igsR3.atx -> igs20.atx" ground antenna calibration updates
This first release is based on the repro3 product series currently available, i.e., on data from January 2, 1994 till December 31, 2020.
I would also like to take the opportunity of this announcement to poll users of the IGS cumulative SINEX solution about its update rate. It has historically been updated at a weekly rate, but every single weekly update actually has little impact on such a long-term solution, and it seems to me that less frequent updates (e.g., every month or every 2 months) should fit most usages. Less frequent updates would also allow us (providers of the solution) to improve our analysis of station position time series (in particular offset detection), hence the quality of the cumulative solution.
My questions to users of the IGS cumulative SINEX solution are therefore the following: Are there usages which really require weekly updates of that solution? Otherwise, which update rate would satisfy your needs? Please let me know your answers by the end of January.
Best regards,
Paul Rebischung, IGS Reference Frame coordinator
