Dear colleagues,
the Deutsches Geodaetisches Forschungsinstitut (DGFI, German Geodetic
Research Institute) of the Technische Universitaet Muenchen (TUM) is
accepting applications for the position of a
Research Associate (3 years) in the research area Reference Systems.
The realization of reference systems has been a primary research area of
DGFI since many years. The institute is an official Combination Center
for the International Terrestrial Reference System (ITRS) within the
International Earth Rotation and Reference Systems Service (IERS).
Besides the official ITRS computations our activities focus on the
development of refined methods for the combination of space geodetic
observations (SLR, VLBI, DORIS, GNSS) for the advancement of reference
frames with respect to accuracy, long term stability and consistency.
One central aspect is the realization of a fully physical datum (scale,
origin, and orientation) of global reference frames. Here, in particular
the observation technique SLR (Satellite Laser Ranging) is in the focus
as SLR plays a key role for the determination of various fundamental
geodetic parameters of the Earth’s geometry, orientation, and gravity
field.
In order to strengthen our team we are looking for a research associate
for the subject area of SLR. The general tasks are the enhancement of
DGFI’s analysis capacities in the field of SLR (software DOGS – DGFI
Orbit and Geodetic Parameter Estimation Software) and research on the
fully physical datum realization of reference frames. A specific focus
shall be on SLR orbit determination of non-spherical low orbiting
satellites and satellite constellations.
The announcement addresses doctoral candidates as well as scientists on
post-doc level. The position can be filled as soon as possible.
Further information with links to our research activities can be found
on our web site at http://www.dgfi.tum.de/en/jobs/
We are looking forward to receiving applications per mail or email no
later than March 15, 2016.
Best regards,
Florian Seitz
