With apologies for cross-posting to several relevant lists:
--------
The School of Civil Engineering and Geosciences, Newcastle University, UK seeks to appoint a Lecturer in any area of Geodesy, from 1st August 2016 or as soon as possible thereafter. Outstanding academics from all areas of science- or engineering-oriented geodesy will be considered, although we particularly welcome applicants with expertise in satellite orbit modelling, satellite radar or laser altimetry, or the Earth's gravity field, who will complement our existing strengths in GNSS geodesy, Synthetic Aperture Radar interferometry, and metric remote sensing.
Geomatics has a strong track record of RCUK funded collaborative research projects with national/international groups including membership of the NERC Centre for the Observation and Modelling of Earthquakes, Volcanoes and Tectonics (COMET+), as well as with the University's Centre for Earth Systems Engineering Research and the School's Water Resources, Geotechnical, Structures and Transport research groups.
You will collaborate with other researchers in Newcastle, for example in interdisciplinary work in natural hazards, hydrology, subsidence, transport engineering, geotechnical and structural engineering, and cryospheric studies. You are expected to have a proven research record in terms of publications and a relevant PhD, and proven or potential achievements in terms of research funding and international esteem. You will contribute modules to our geomatics undergraduate programmes which may include residential field courses.
