Subject: Call for abstracts for IGS Workshop Plenary #7
*_Thursday February 11th, Plenary 07: Infrastructure and Antenna
Calibration_*
For this plenary session, and the two related poster sessions we welcome
oral presentations and posters covering issues related to IGS
infrastructure, and antenna calibration in-line with the descriptions
below.
*Infrastructure (Nacho Romero)*
The IGS Infrastructure is the backbone of all the IGS services,
encompassing stations, data formats, data storage, etc. In this session
we will cover the current state of the IGS infrastructure elements to
provide an overview of the state of the evolving IGS station network,
data centers, data formats, station information, etc. Of these important
elements the handling of station metadata is being addressed to ensure
that the configuration information of all the participating stations can
be shared via automated protocols between participating institutions and
the IGS Central Bureau. A second essential element in the IGS data
handling has been incorporating of all Rinex 3 files into the standard
data repositories at all the data centers. The IGS has also incorporated
most of the MGEX stations to the regular station network, and we have
been increasing worldwide station coverage in the IGS by contacting more
station operators currently outside the IGS.
The IGS Infrastructure is quickly adapting to encompass new satellite
signals, increasing data types and frequencies, and providing better
geographical coverage , all of these are very significant areas of interest.
*Antenna Calibration (Ralf Schmid)*
In July 2015, the absolute IGS antenna phase center model was
complemented with conventional and/or manufacturer-specific satellite
antenna phase center offset (PCO) values for the new GNSS (Galileo,
BeiDou, QZSS, IRNSS). For lack of information on the dependence of the
phase center on the observation direction, the corresponding phase
center variations (PCVs) were set to zero for the time being. Both PCO
and PCV values will have to be replaced by estimates from global GNSS
analyses in the coming years.
Further effort is also needed with respect to the estimation of GPS
satellite antenna corrections. A combined processing of terrestrial and
low Earth orbiter data would allow the IGS to provide an independent
estimate for the terrestrial scale. Azimuth-dependent PCVs should be
considered at the same time.
Concerning the receiver antennas, the integration of chamber calibration
values (for the new GNSS) into the IGS model as recommended during the
last IGS Workshop is still under discussion. Besides, new calibration
institutions become operational. In order to avoid systematic errors,
there is a need for careful comparisons of independent calibration
results. Multipath mitigation or the possible benefit from individual
antenna calibrations are other open issues.
Please submit your abstract for consideration to the plenary or the
poster sessions here;
