[IGSMAIL-7014] New Chair of the IGS Governing Board

Dear Colleagues,

at its meeting today in San Francisco the IGS Governing Board elected 
Gary Johnston from Geoscience Australia as its new Chair, starting its 
four year's term on January 1, 2015. I wish Gary all the best and much 
success for his leadership role in the Governing Board!

The election of Dr. Rolf Dach (University of Bern, Switzerland) as 
Analysis Center Representative and of Dr. Carine Bruyninx (Royal 
Observatory of Belgium, Brussels) as Network Representative by the IGS 
Associate Members was unanimously confirmed at the same meeting. I 
welcome Rolf to the Governing Board and I am glad that Carine stays for 
another four years at our Board and I congratulate both.

I also want to sincerely thank the very strong candidates who made 
themselves available for the elections as the Chair and as Components 
Representatives. With their deep expertise and strong vision they made 
the selection really difficult. The IGS is fortunate to have such a pool 
of experts who are ready to serve the IGS in a responsible function.
