Dear Colleagues,

The RTCM SC 104 is now voting on proposed State Space Represenation
(RTCM-SSR) messages. The voting deadline is November 3, 2010. The
Real-time IGS is a strong supporter of the proposed messages and
encourages all RTCM SC-104 members to vote to adopt these messages as
an RTCM standard.

Background

Internationally adopted standards are important to the IGS's success.
This is demonstrated by the IGS's current work within RTCM to develop a
high precision GNSS data format and the IGS Real-time Pilot Project's
adoption of the proposed RTCM-SSR messages with the expectation that
they will become an RTCM standard. To increase the likelihood of their
adoption, members of the pilot project have worked closely with GEO++
who, within RTCM, has sponsored and documented the RTCM-SSR suite of
messages.

Presently, within the IGS real-time pilot project analysis centres are
generating RTCM-SSR formatted GNSS orbit and clock corrections and these
individual analysis centre solutions are being combined into a prototype
IGS real-time GNSS correction product. It is planned that in the near
future a real-time IGS service will use the NTRIP protocol to deliver
these GNSS corrections using the RTCM-SSR suite of messages.

The Real-time IGS Working Group has a significant investment in the use
of the RTCM-SSR messages and I encourage all RTCM members to vote before
the November 3rd deadline to adopt these proposed messages as an RTCM
standard for the delivery of GNSS State Spaced Correction messages.

Best regards,

Mark Caissy
Chair IGS Real-time Working Group
