SOPAC is pleased to announce the hiring of Brent Gilmore to fill the
position of Computer Operations Manager. Brent will now be the point of
contact for our Global Data Center activities for the IGS, replacing
Jeff Dean who has relocated to New York City. Brent Gilmore comes to us
from San Diego State University where he administered campus web services
and developed web-based software. Previous to SDSU, Brent worked for the
City of San Diego as the Systems Manager for a department with 1500
users spread across 15 geographically dispersed sites.  Brent has been
working in the I.S. field for 11 years, has a B.S. degree in Information
Systems and an M.S. degree in Management. Brent recently authored the
chapter "Oracle Under Linux" in the book A DBA's Guide to Databases
Under Linux, Including Oracle and SQL.
