Hi Carey,

years ago the decision to store high-rate data permanently at BKG-GDC on request only has been made because of restricted storage capacity. Currently we have three (3!) stations which are stored in folder highrate-permanent.
Shouldn't be a problem for IGS as we upload high-rate files to CDDIS and IGN (thanks to Rebecca hopefully more or less completely).

Nevertheless we are discussing to start storing high-rate files permanently as default at BKG-GDC. Although I would prefer daily high-rate RINEX files by impulse because it's just another RINEX file instead of an archive of files I can see your point (unchanged station files) and maybe some additional pros for tar (lighter load creating tar archives, faster than concatenation and distinct product from regular daily file in RINEX2). And for this purpose something like 'gode0010.18d.tar' and 'GOP700CZE_R_20180010000_01D_01S_MO.crx.tar' as mentioned in your last email seems to be a sensible naming convention.

Hi Markus,

I am surprised to hear that you do not keep the high-rate data at the BKG data center. CDDIS has these data going back to the start of the transmission of the files; I would think that 1 second sampled data could continue to be of use to the community. Regardless, we at CDDIS want to simplify the archive for both us and user downloads so that is why we proposed generating these tar files, one file/site/day.
