Tēnā koutou katoa,
we are very pleased to inform you of a long-waited GNSS data product that GeoNet has now released.
Starting from today GNSS data from the GeoNet and PositioNZ stations will be provided in RINEX 3 format.
A big thank you to the team who made that possible: Howard Wu, Jordan Wilson, Aleksandr Spesivtsev, John Ajera, Josh Groom and Moss Cantwell.
What you need to do:
· If you use raw GNSS data from the GeoNet and PositioNZ networks, please update your systems and migrate those from using RINEX2 to RINEX3 format.
· RINEX2 will be fully deprecated on 22nd of October 2024, so we would really appreciate it if you could complete this migration before then.
Additional details:
· Starting from DOY 204/2024, 30s daily and hourly GNSS RINEX data (Receiver INdependent Exchange Format) will be provided in v. 3.05 format;
· Code and phase data from GPS, Glonass, Galileo, Beidou and QZSS will now be available in the RINEX files for stations that have “full-GNSS tracking” enabled;
· Data from New Zealand and Antarctica IGS stations are now provided to IGS in RINEX3 format;
· There will be an outage of 2-3 days in the provision of RINEX2 hourly data, while we complete the migration of our backend system;
· RINEX2 format data will be generated for 3 months, and deprecated on October 22nd, 2024
· The team is now working on migrating the system that generates 1s RINEX data from GNSS streaming stations from RINEX2 to RINEX3. This will be completed in the next couple of months (date to be confirmed)
· RINEX3 data will be available at the same locations as RINEX2 data, and can be accessed using two different mechanisms (please refer to our website for further details):
o Https file server: https://data.geonet.org.nz<https://data.geonet.org.nz/>
o AWS open data S3 bucket: s3://geonet-open-data (https://www.geonet.org.nz/data/access/aws)
