Dear colleagues,

We regret to inform height stabilization system of METS00FIN has failed and cannot be repaired. The station become operational IGS station in 1992 and stabilization system served us 33 years keeping the antenna height stable on our 21 m height steel mast. Due this incident we decided to end operations of this GPS only station since it is not stable enough due to thermal expansion.

METS00FIN is in the Metsähovi Geodetic Research Station where it is collocated with VLBI, SLR, 2 superconducting gravimeters, absolute gravimeter, several SAR corner reflactors, and MET300FIN GNSS Station (GPS+GLO+GAL+SBAS). MET300FIN was installed in 2013 and is from now on the main GNSS instrument at Metsähovi Geodetic Research Station. All instruments mentioned above are close to each other, founded on solid bedrock and under our attempts towards sub-millimeter local ties using terrestrial and GNSS measurements. Outside the observatory area are also METG00FIN GNSS station and Doris station.

Data flow from METS00FIN will be shut down on June 25th, and site log will be then udpated to mark the station as decommissioned. If you know any parties are using METS00FIN for something, please inform them to switch to MET300FIN.
