Dear IGS Network Station Operators,

Greetings from the IGS Central Bureau.

As many of you already know, our current IGS Site Log Manager is nearing
the end of its service life. Central Bureau staff are working diligently to
build an all-new Site Log Manager, with improvements based on your
feedback, as well as features to better align our network with regional
networks and international standards.

As part of these improvements, the IGS Governing Board has decided to
implement the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standard
“ISO 3166: Country Codes” for geographical names. This provides our global
IGS community with an internationally approved and aligned method of
describing our IGS Network station locations. More information about this
Standard is available on the ISO website:
https://www.iso.org/iso-3166-country-codes.html
<https://urldefense.us/v3/__https:/www.iso.org/iso-3166-country-codes.html__;!!PvBDto6Hs4WbVuu7!bEBBpKaXndWq19ZJfQ65jB8NI0fHuMTy-mqgeopoNX1LJccPb3DWDcmFvP9eNQWDFxtbyzDXITs$>
.

*We ask all IGS Network Station Operators to please ensure your site logs
are consistent with the above-mentioned ISO 3166 standard*. All current
codes are available online here https://www.iso.org/obp/ui/#search

If you have any difficulty updating your site log, please contact the
Central Bureau and we will be happy to help. In order to ensure the maximum
benefit of using ISO 3166, the Central Bureau will make appropriate
corrections to site logs not updated by station operators by 1st of
November, 2021.

Our most sincere thanks to all of you for your important contributions to
our IGS Community.

With my best regards,

Allison
