Last week we sent notification [IGSSTATION-7408] informing users that there was going to be an outage at the IGS stations STR1, STR2 and STR3. I would just like to take the time to further clarify what was meant by maintenance. As a result of a planned local-tie survey between the GNSS antennas, SLR telescope and surrounding survey control marks, the antennas at the three stations had to be temporarily removed to provide access to the marker points. Significant care was taken with this process and the antennas were reinstalled in the same location and orientation as before the survey. I do understand that there was some concern amongst the community around this disruption and I apologise for this. We are currently looking at ways in which we can undertake the survey at this observatory without removing the antennas such that this type of disruption should not occur again.
