Dear Colleagues, Partners, and Member State Representatives,

In our first six months of operation, the UN-GGCE convened nine meetings and listened to over 550 individuals from 110 countries. Throughout these conversations, a unified concern emerged: while the global geodesy supply chain is universally essential, the infrastructure, workforce, governance, and funding that sustain it remain critically fragile.

Since then, we have actively translated your input into practical, foundational work:
·        Strategic Alignment: We published the first Joint Development Plan for Global Geodesy, providing Member States and partners with a shared roadmap for strengthening the supply chain.
·        Growing Commitment: The Multilateral MoU on Strengthening the Global Geodesy Supply Chain has expanded from 36 founding participants to 57 entities.
·        Baseline Assessment: We launched the State of Geodesy 2026 report, delivering the first comprehensive maturity assessment of the supply chain by evaluating 58 capabilities across six core areas.
·        Capacity Development: We hosted four regional workshops, bringing together 216 professionals from 100 countries across Africa, the Americas, Asia-Pacific, and Europe.
·        Scientific Collaboration: Over 150 scientific experts and 34 partner organizations have worked alongside the Centre to strengthen coordination, build awareness, and support countries in improving their national geodetic capacity.

While we celebrate this progress, there is still a long way to go. The State of Geodesy 2026 <https://www.un.org/globalgeospatial/sites/default/files/2026-05/stateofgeodesy.pdf> places the global geodesy supply chain at a maturity level of 2.3 out of 5. The system is functioning, but it is not yet strong or resilient enough to be relied upon without concern.
