Dear Colleagues,
The high-quality dual-frequency phase measurements from the DORIS system provide valuable information on the Earth’s ionosphere. These data are well suited for the independent validation and/or combination of ionospheric TEC maps derived from
GNSS measurements. To this end, the concept of DORIS differential Slant Total Electron Content (dSTEC) was proposed to assess the performance of GNSS-based ionospheric maps. In addition, near-real-time (NRT) DORIS data, typically available with latencies of about 3 hours, have been provided by approximately 9 low-earth-orbit satellites since late 2024. Accordingly, the IDS Working Group on NRT Ionospheric Applications was launched at the same time.
At CAS, we routinely generated the NRT DORIS dSTEC information, which have been used to validate the performance of Real-Time Global Ionospheric Maps (RT-GIMs), and to support the combination of the new IGS rapid and final GIMs. To facilitate the use of NRT DORIS data for ionospheric analysis, we have prepared a draft document describing the DORIS-dSTEC product files routinely generated at CAS. This draft document covers the long filename convention, detailed data format and product file archive structure at CAS data center.
We hope that such DORIS dSTEC information will be useful for your research. Any feedback or suggestions you may have would be highly appreciated.
With best regards,
Ningbo Wang
on behalf of CAS Team
