Dear colleagues,

We would like to draw your attention to the session “G014 - Precise
Orbit Determination: an essential discipline enabling Earth Science”
organized at the AGU24, which will be held 9-13 December 2024 in
Washington, D.C.

Session description:

Precise Orbit Determination (POD) is a discipline of Space Geodesy
enabling Earth Science. POD is driven by the need for accurate
geophysical products on global and regional scales, the goal to obtain a
precise reference frame with a precision of 1mm in position and 0.1
mm/yr in velocity, especially in view of the upcoming co-location in
space mission, Genesis, and the need for high accuracy POD products to
support increasing real-time applications. POD requires and benefits
from advances in force modelling (such as precise modelling of
time-variable gravity, and non-conservative forces) as well as advances
in measurement modelling for the space geodetic techniques used for POD
(GNSS, SLR, DORIS, VLBI) and the combination thereof as many spacecraft
are multi-technique POD satellites.

This session solicits papers that highlight recent advances in this
essential discipline of Space Geodesy for current and future satellite
missions and their impact on the respective geophysical products.

Please consider submitting an abstract to this dedicated orbit session.
The deadline for abstract submission is Wednesday, 31 July at 23:59 p.m.
ET/03:59 +1 GMT. We are looking forward to your contribution.

On behalf of the convenors of session G014,

Adrian Jäggi

Co-conveners: Frank G Lemoine, Bruce J Haines, Jan P Weiss, Kristin Vielberg
