[IGSMAIL-8212] REMINDER - CDDIS High-Rate Archive Consolidation - 15 Jun 2022

As announced in IGSMAIL-8189, CDDIS will begin the process of the consolidation of GNSS high-rate files on 15 June 2022 and expects to complete this consolidation by early August. Dear Colleagues,

On 15 Jun 2022, CDDIS will change the way in which GNSS high-rate (sub-hourly, 1-second sampling rate) files are stored in the CDDIS archive.  In the past, all 15-minute files (96 total per day) were stored individually.  Going forward from June 15th ALL high-rate files older than 6 months in age will be consolidated into a single tar file per monument per day, along with the compression of the files being changed from Unix compress to gzip.  Newer files (from the present to 6 months of age) will continue to be left in the current format of individual 15-minute files.  As files age out, they will be tar and gzip compressed into the new format.  More info can be seen on this page describing the process and naming conventions for files.

Nominal timeline for all changes is as follows:


  1.  15 Jun 2022 – Conversion of all high-rate files from year 2001 and older will commence
  2.  17 Jun – 1 Aug – Conversion of all high-rate files newer than year 2001 will commence from oldest to newest, i.e. 2002, 2003, 2004, etc.
  3.  2 Aug 2022 – All conversions should be completed up to the current date minus 6 months, i.e. 2 Feb 2022.
  4.  3 Aug 2022 – All high-rate files older than 6 months will then be converted on a daily basis into the new format.
