Position of assistant in GNSS at the University of Liege (Belgium)

Context

Created in 2005 within the Geomatics Unit of the University of Liege, the
"Geodesy and GNSS" service is responsible for teaching in the field of
geodesy and satellite navigation; our service contributes to the bachelor's
degree in geographical sciences, the master's degree in geographical
sciences, geomatics orientation and the master's degree in spatial sciences.
In addition, the "Geodesy and GNSS" service conducts a research program
devoted to the applications of GNSS in geodesy and geophysics.

The main topics covered are:

*	The modeling of the error induced by the ionosphere on the accuracy
and integrity of GNSS applications
*	GNSS-based monitoring of the ionospheric activity
*	The development of innovative GNSS data processing algorithms

Currently, we are using smartphone GNSS sensors for high accuracy
positioning as well as for the monitoring of the ionospheric activity.

The position

The Geomatics unit of the University of Liege hires a teaching and research
assistant for a period of 2 years starting on 15 September 2022. At the end
of this 2-year period, the contract may be renewed 2 times for a period of 2
years (i.e. a total of 6 years). Research and teaching activities will each
represent 50% of the activities.

As part of the teaching activities, the assistant will be responsible for
the practical work associated to the following courses:

*	Introduction to geodesy (bachelor in geography)
*	GNSS (master in geomatics and master in space sciences)
*	GNSS data processing (master in geomatics and master in space
sciences)
*	GNSS project (master in geomatics)

Regarding research activities, the assistant will carry out a doctoral
thesis dedicated to the use of smartphone GNSS sensors for high-accuracy
positioning.

Profile

Required:

*	Master's degree in science or engineering science
*	Experience in the field of GNSS and/or in Geodesy
*	Experience in scientific programming
*	Ability to write technical reports and publications in English
*	Ability to work independently but also within a team

Added value:
