Open Position at the Astronomical Institute of the University of Bern

The Satellite Geodesy research group of the Astronomical Institute
of the University of Bern (AIUB) offers the  position for a

                  RESEARCH ASSISTANT.

The focus of the activities will be in the field of extending the
capability of the Bernese GNSS Software package for

                  VLBI DATA ANALYSIS.

Based on the initial developments at IAPG at TUM (Institute of
Astronomical and Physical Geode-sy; Technical University of Munich)
the full capability of an analysis center of the IVS (International
VLBI Service for Geodesy and Astronomy) shall be established using
the Bernese GNSS Software package. This development shall be carried
out in a close cooperation with BKG (Federal Agency for Cartography
and Geodesy, Frankfurt am Main, Germany). The activity is established
in the frame of the institutional collaboration of the “Center for
Orbit Determination in Europe (CODE)”.

The development shall allow in future research in the field of a
combined analysis of VLBI and GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite
Systems) measurements. It is of course intended that the successful
candidate shall start with scientific experiments in that field as
soon as some functionality is available.
