The U.S. National Geodetic Survey (NGS), part of the National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration, seeks a postdoctoral researcher in gravimetry
or kinematic aircraft positioning to work with the GRAV-D project staff (
http://www.ngs.noaa.gov/GRAV-D/).
The opening will be filled through the prestigious Research Associateship
Program, run by the U.S. National Research Council. Postdoctoral research
will fall under the broad topic of "Measuring and Monitoring Earth’s
Gravity Field with Terrestrial, Airborne, and Satellite Methods" and be
applicable to NGS' ongoing projects.
Successful candidates will have experience related to either (1) precise
aircraft positioning (especially combining GNSS and IMU data) or (2)
terrestrial, airborne, and/or satellite gravity data acquisition and
technical analysis, with emphasis on applications related to geodesy.
Proficiency with Matlab is desired. When they apply, applicants must be
less than 5 years from the date they finished their Ph.D. Applicants may be
from any country and relocation expenses are paid.
The application package includes a research proposal. Interested applicants
are strongly encouraged to email or call Dr. Theresa Damiani (
theresa.damiani at noaa.gov, 240-997-1282) to discuss potential topics for
their proposal. The last day to apply online is February 1, 2017.
