You will join the Geomatics team and carry out research in GNSS positioning, including the utilisation of GNSS observations for the precise determination of horizontal and vertical motions of the Earth's crust and natural features such as glaciers, or built structures on the Earth. You will disseminate your work via leading international journal publications and conferences. It is also expected that you will contribute to the engagement activities of the School (e.g. consultancy and Continuing Professional Development training).

You will have a PhD in geodesy, or a closely related scientific/engineering field, awarded or in submission by the time of appointment. You should have a proven or emerging track record of self-motivated progress in academic research, including publication in peer-reviewed journals, and a demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment. 

You must have high-quality written and oral communication skills in the English language, and practical experience of GNSS surveying. You should also have expertise in scientific programming and computing under the Linux (UNIX) operating system, and the use of one or more programming languages. You will also be expected to have experience in one or more of the major scientific GNSS processing software packages. Experience of collaboration with industrial or multi-disciplinary partners would also be an advantage.

This is a fixed-term position for three years (in the first instance).

Salary:  GBP 26,829 to 28,452 (if PhD not yet awarded)
         GBP 29,301 to 31,076 (with potential progression to GBP 38,183; PhD awarded)
