General Notes: At UTCSR, advanced GNSS techniques are essential to our next generation space geodetic research interests, including cm-level precise orbit determination, future gravity field missions, reference frame determination, geodetic imaging for Earth Sciences, etc. Candidates are expected to work towards developing a vigorous research agenda at the cutting edge of GNSS geodesy. Both Technique-focused researchers as well as Science-focused researchers are encouraged to apply.

Purpose: Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) space-geodetic research for precise orbit and gravity field estimation, and mm-precision positioning. Conduct space mission development and fundamental research in diverse Earth sciences.

Essential Functions: Research and development on the use of GNSS tracking for high-precision orbit estimation, gravity field determination and terrestrial positioning. Development of algorithms, software and data analysis tools to support the GNSS based components of a space geodetic data analysis system in support of GRACE, GRACE Follow-On, and ICESat-2 missions. Prepare manuscripts for scientific publication. Help conceptualize and write grant applications in this and related areas of research. Potentially supervise student research in allied topics.

Incidental Functions: Other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications: PhD in relevant engineering disciplines or natural sciences.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in, or a record of research in high-precision GNSS signal modeling. Knowledge of orbit determination. Knowledge of modern techniques of parameter estimation and filtering. Experience in, or a record of research in the use of GNSS for space geodesy. Excellent communication skills, with a strong publication record. Should be self-motivated, and demonstrate desire and ability to work with others individually and in a collaborative environment.
