Position Description
The Department of Land Surveying & Geo-Informatics (LSGI) in the Faculty of Construction and Environment (FCE) at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), Hong Kong, is pleased to invite applications for a long-term position at the rank of Research Fellow or Senior Research Fellow in the area of geomatics engineering (including GNSS satellite-based positioning and navigation, geodesy, remote sensing and geographic information system (GIS)). This position can be started immediately and is open until a suitable candidate is identified. The successful applicant will be expected to dedicate their time:
· assisting the Department in actively developing research programs and collaborations internally within the department, faculty and university as well as externally with peers in Hong Kong, Mainland China and other regions and countries.
· providing assistance and guidance for the research activities of BSc, Master and PhD students and other research personnel at the Department.
· assisting the LSGI faculty members in managing research facilities (such as field observation stations, big datasets, laboratories, etc).
· engaging in high impact research and submitting scholarly works to high quality publications
· providing service with the university and within our profession locally and internationally.
· No teaching duty will be required.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in geomatics engineering or related discipline; a strong research track record. Candidates should have strong oral and written English communication skills. English is the official language in Hong Kong’s tertiary education.
