Dear colleagues,

The Collaborative Research Centre “Relativistic geodesy and gravimetry
with quantum sensors (geo-Q)” invites applications for a *PhD position
*for the project B03 *“Kinematic GNSS positioning of low Earth
orbiters” t*o be appointed 01.11.2014. The position is limited to 3
years, with the perspective on extension. The work place will be at the
Institut für Erdmessung, Leibniz Universität Hannover
(www.ife.uni-hannover.de)

Responsibilities and duties include research on improved GNSS algorithms
for kinematic LEO satellite positioning both from simulations and real
data analyses. Special emphasis is placed on benefits from ultra stable
GPS receiver clocks and new satellite formation schemes allowing
collaborative positioning of the formation, like e.g., via laser links.
A second focus is on improving the understanding of GPS signal
propagation in the vicinity of the LEO satellite antenna including
multipath, diffraction and antenna phase patterns.

Candidates should have completed their master’s degree in geodesy,
navigation, aero-space engineering or closely related disciplines with
above-average success. Programming skills in MATLAB and Simulink are
required as well as advanced knowledge in GPS positioning or signal
propagation.
