Dear IGS colleagues,
We are pleased to announce the much anticipated launch of the new IGS
website, which is available online at http://beta.igs.org. This new website
features a number of improvements, including:
*Simplified navigation.* The new IGS website features streamlined
navigation, with a top main navigation bar that provides access to the core
elements of the website and footer navigation that supports direct access
to commonly used information.
*Streamlined content. *All website resources have been reorganized and will
be maintained with current information.
*Search functionality*. The search box allows users to perform a unified
search of the website and its associated resources. This makes it much
easier to find content across multiple affiliated websites (including those
of the ACC and working groups) – all from one keyword search.
*Knowledge base*. All IGS reference materials are now located in the new
Knowledge Base. This dynamic library of information improves access to IGS
resources, as well as facilitates the posting of content by users.
*Station information database.* Information about the IGS stations is now
contained in the Site Log Manager database application. This new
application will improve quality and facilitate better user access to
station related data and information.
*Available worldwide.* The IGS website is now accessible in all countries.
We have launched this website in beta to allow a period of public comment
before publishing it under our main URL at www.igs.org in approximately 30
days from today. We encourage you to provide your comments or suggestions
for improving this website by e-mail to cb at igs.org.
The old website will remain active, though information will not be updated.
Curators of third party websites that draw on the IGS website should update
links as soon as practical after we publish the new website at www.igs.org.
Best regards,
Steve Fisher (on behalf of the IGS Central Bureau team)
