Dear Colleagues,

The International Hydrographic Organization and the International
Association of Geodesy Advisory Board on the Law of the Sea (ABLOS) is
pleased to announce that its Seventh Conference is scheduled for
October 3-5 at the Salle du Ponant in Monaco.

This year’s Conference Theme is “UNCLOS in a Changing World’.
Conference Chairman Chris Carleton and the Organizing Committee, in
association with the Institut du Droit Économique de la Mer (INDEMER)
of Monaco, invite presentations that discuss how the practice and
application of the Law of the Sea are or may be affected by
contemporary developments.

A Keynote Address will be delivered by Robert C. Beckman, Director of
the Centre for International Law at the National University of
Singapore.

A notable departure from previous Conferences will be the concurrent
scheduling of the Annual Meeting of the IOC-IHO General Bathymetric
Chart of the Oceans (GEBCO). ABLOS Conference participants are
invited to arrive a day early in Monaco in order to attend the GEBCO
Science Day on October 2, at the International Hydrographic Bureau in
Monaco.

More information concerning the ABLOS Conference is posted on the
official website at http://www.iho.int/mtg_docs/com_wg/ABLOS/ABLOS_Conf7/ABLOS_Conf7.htm
, where details can be found regarding: hotel accommodations in
Monaco; suggested session topics; procedures for registration; and
submission of abstracts.

Conference organizers look forward to welcoming new and returning
participants to this year’s event.
