Dear Colleagues,
Technical Reports are essential for a Technique Service as the IGS, but
we miss them in recent years due to various reasons. We now intend to
revitalize the regular publication of IGS Annual Technical Reports. The
Astronomical Institute of the University of Bern took the initiative and
assumes responsibility for the preparation of the reports, to collect
contributions, edit and publish them with short delay. The reports will
be edited by Dr. Michael Meindl who already edited the proceedings of
the IGS Workshop 2004 in Bern.
IGS components will be contacted directly by AIUB with detailed
guidelines (seehttp://www.igstr.aiub.unibe.ch/ or
http://www.igs.org/overview/pubs.html). For the TR 2011 the deadline for
submission is set to May 31, 2012. This will be considered a hard
deadline! Delays will not be accepted and missing contributions will be
indicated in the report, the above cited web-site will indicate the
progress of the submissions. On the other hand, the report will be
published electronically withing 1-2 months after the deadline, i.e.,
you will see your contribution quickly published and be able to
reference it. Contributions shall be concise, focussing on the important
information concerning the component, on changes in standards and
strategies in the past year, addressing highlights, challenges and
plans, and referencing your IGS-related papers. I count on you to have
our IGS "history" documented.
I thank Michael Meindl and Rolf Dach on behalf of the IGS for their
initiative and for their committment for this undertaking in support of
the IGS. This is very much appreciated and I look forward for the next
volume.
Many thanks already for your contributions, with best regards
Urs Hugentobler
Chair, IGS Governing Board
