The Helmholtz Centre Potsdam GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences 
is the national Research Centre for Geosciences in Germany and a member 
of the Helmholtz Association.

For the project "GPS - Surface Deformations within Seconds (G-SEIS)" in 
the frame of the BMBF/DFG funded "GEOTECHNOLOGIEN" special programme 
"Fr|hwarnsystem im Erdmanagement" department 1 invites applications for a

                   *Scientist (m/f)*.
*
Tasks:*

The candidate will contribute to the development of real-time analysis 
software for global and regional GPS data streams, in particular:

    * development and implementation of required algorithms
    * processing of real-time data of globally distributed GPS stations
      for the determination of satellite orbits and satellite clocks as
      a basis for various geodetic and geodynamic real-time
      applications, in particular for GPS-based early warning system
    * studies on improving precision of real-time products incorporating
      the satellite systems GALILEO and GLONASS
    * demonstration of the software in prototype applications

*Qualifications:*

    * Diploma or MSc in geosciences, geodesy, informatics or physics
    * PhD degree desirable but not necessary
    * Experience in GPS data processing using different analysis packages
    * Very good knowledge of current computer languages (Perl, FORTRAN,
      C) and Shell programming in Unix/Linux
    * Willingness to work in an interdisciplinary team and communicate
      with external partners
    * Good command of English
