Dear IGS Colleagues,
We would like to draw your attention to the session Geodesy-7 :
"GNSS new capabilities for geosciences" of the next EGU general
assembly to be held in Vienna, Austria during 13-18 April 2007.
Event Description:
The variety of available and upcoming GNSS and Regional Overlay Systems
will offer many exciting opportunities and challenges in the field of
geosciences in the next decade.
This session will address on the one hand technical aspects of
potential new systems like the Chinese COMPASS and the Japanese QZSS as
well as news from the GPS and GLONASS upgrade programs and the status
of GALILEO.
On the other hand we encourage contributions to geoscience and
metrology which propose new applications based on the already available
GNSS-signals (e.g. GNSS-reflectometry, GNSS radio occultations,
GNSS-time transfer) and contributions dealing with geoscientific
applications based on the improved availability and the new signals
offered by the above mentioned systems within the upcoming 5-10 years
(e.g. GNSS atmosphere tomography). In this context we also encourage
discussions on the contributions of GNSS to international geosciences
services, organizations and programmes including but not limited to IGS
and especially to the Global Geodetic Observing System (GGOS).
Abstract submissions will be accepted online until 14 January, 2008.

Felix Perosanz & Robert Weber
