UNIVERSITY OF NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE

SCHOOL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING AND GEOSCIENCES

RESEARCH ASSOCIATE IN GPS GEODESY


Applications are invited from candidates holding a PhD (or 
expecting the imminent award of one) in geodesy or a closely 
related field.  The appointee will join the Geomatics and 
Water Resources group and carry out research into the 
analysis and utilisation of GPS observations for (near-) 
real-time positioning and deformation monitoring, including 
the precise determination of horizontal and vertical motions 
of the Earth's crust and structures on the Earth.

The position is available from 1 May 2004, for two years in 
the first instance but with the expectation of continuation 
depending on funding and performance.  Salary will be at an 
appropriate point on the scale GBP 18,265 - GBP 27,339 per 
annum (pending review), according to qualifications and 
experience.  

Applications for the initial shortlist should be received by 
15 April, and interviews are likely to be held on 22 or 
23 April.  The post will remain open until filled.
