2002/11/03 22:12 M 7.9 CENTRAL ALASKA Z= 10km 63.74N 147.69W
This is an advisory to warn users of IGS data (including IGS Analysis
Centers) that the IGS station FAIR is expected to have significant
co-seismic displacement due to a magnitude 7.9 earthquake which
occurred at 2002/11/03 22:12:40 UTC, centered approximately 120 km south
of Fairbanks, Alaska. Post-seismic motion might also be expected.
More information on the earthquake is given below from the USGS.
For purposes of IGS orbit determination, I suggest that data from
FAIR on UTC day 2002/11/03 not be processed from 22:00 to the end of the
day.
I would also recommend not using FAIR for transformations of fiducial-free
solutions into ITRF2000.
This is sent as an early warning for informational purposes only - the
Analysis Coordinator no doubt will recommend a course of action.
Geoff
