The recent IGS Workshop in Ottawa was concerned with the transport of GPS
information over the Internet in real time. Following IGS Mail 3847 and its
call on organizations to participate in a simulated data flow test, I should
like to draw your attention to further activities regarding the streaming of
DGPS and RTK information via Internet.

EUREF is currently in the process of considering a participation in
disseminating DGPS/RTK corrections using the Internet Protocol (acronym
EUREF-IP). One result of these efforts is the development of client software
(Windows 98/00/XP, ftp://igs.ifag.de/software/euref-ip-rtcm.zip) for
receiving/decoding RTCM corrections from the Internet. We ask interested
colleagues to run that client and return feedback concerning its performance
through accessing trail servers in some European countries. The client uses
the Transmission Control Protocol TCP. In case you have a firewall in front
of you, make sure that it doesn't filter connections to port 2101. This port
has been kindly assigned by IANA for disseminating RTCM corrections and the
client uses it.

Please note that the client allows storing various decoded RTCM messages in
ASCII format together with their latency. Don't forget to set your PC clock
in order to get meaningful latency information recorded. Thanks in advance
for returning some protocol files to weber at ifag.de.
