Subject: NPLD FTP problems

Dear Colleagues,

Unfortunately we are now having difficulty connecting to the IFAG FTP
server (see below). This will not be solved until the end of the week at
the earliest. In the meantime we will continue sending our NPLD data
directly to AIUB, IESSG, and our own FTP site,
ftp.npl.co.uk/pub/gpsphase/.

My apologies for the inconvenience (and the cross-posting).

Regards,
Jon

Subject: RE: FTP Transfer failure

This would seem to be because we are unable to communicate
properly with the FTP server at igs.ifag.de. Although it
allows us to do the initial log-in process, any attempt to
transfer data (even do a directory listing) will hang forever.

On checking our firewall logs, I think this problem is caused
by a "feature" of their FTP server that our firewall system
objects to.

Fortunately there is a work-around I can apply at this end.
This will involve me re-writing one of the scripts that handle
these transfers. Will have to wait until Friday as I am out of
the office tomorrow and Thursday. For the time being I've disabled
your batch job, so you won't get an endless stream of errors.
