Dear IGS Colleagues,

The purpose of this email is to remind the IGS community that combined
GPS/GLONASS RINEX files will appear at IGS Data Centers in the not too
distant future. This has been allowed in the RINEX specification
(ftp://igscb.jpl.nasa.gov/pub/data/format/rinex210.txt) for some time,
but the GLONASS data has been kept in separate directories.

Also, when the IGLOS Pilot Project begins in earnest, the IGLOS sites
will become bona fide IGS sites and as such, site logs for GLONASS
stations will be moved into the IGS site log directory at
ftp://igscb.jpl.nasa.gov/pub/station/log/. GLONASS stations will also
appear in the IGS SINEX template
ftp://igscb.jpl.nasa.gov/pub/station/general/igs.snx when that happens.

The Central Bureau is currently working on a modification of the IGS site
log form to account for GLONASS (or other) tracking stations. The IGEX
and potential IGLOS stations have been using a tentatively modified IGS
site log form.

There is no certain date for implementation at this time, but we felt
a reminder at this time would head off any potential problems. IGS
users are advised to ensure that their software systems will behave
as desired in terms of GPS/GLONASS RINEX data, site logs, and SINEX
template by January 2001 to be ready for the change. Most especially,
the processing programs should either properly process GLONASS
observations or merely skip them.

Best regards,
Angie
