Subject: SIO six-week break
------------------
***Notice from Scripps PGGA/GARNER Analysis Center***
After 16 months of continuous operation, the Scripps analysis
center is on a six-week break between 15 November and 31 December.
We will use this period to:
(1) Incorporate new hardware (two workstations, 1 optical jukebox)
(2) Reorganize data management and storage
(3) Test and incorporate new automatic features
(4) Update reference frame to ITRF91 using sixteen months of analysis,
and recompute orbits and polar motion for this entire period. We
will make this information available to the IGS community.
(5) Train new permanent staff members
We chose this period because of:
(1) Preparation for AGU meeting in San Francisco
(2) Least disruption of ongoing projects (during holiday season)
(3) Anticipation of problems in the transition to new operating
software for Rogue receivers in December.
*** Note: The Scripps Global Data Center will continue uniterrupted
operations, but will transition to a new data archiving system.
We will resume regular operations in January.
We plan to gradually make up the backlog of missing days, as the new
automatic system comes on line.
Sorry for any inconvenience that this causes the IGS community.
