Dear Carey,

I will attend the DC-WG Meeting in Olsztyn. 

I suggest the following items for discussion in addition to those already noted by others before:

a) How do we archive RINEX files of different format, i.e., RINEX 2 and RINEX 3 files? Currently we have separate directories for the two formats, but how is our long-term strategy? Will we archive one format only in the future having in mind that we always could down-convert RINEX 3 to RINEX 2?

b) As an operator of a data center is becomes more and more difficult for me to discover, how a particular RINEX files has been generated, e.g., how could I prevent that any accumulated data stream will overwrite an existing "regular" RINEX file? Ideas for a common procedure are welcome.

c) How do you think about a "user registration" for IGS data centers? When IGS started we allowed "anonymous user" to submit and download files. Quite soon we suffered from problems from disturbing uploads from unknown parties and request now a user account for uploads. We still allow anonymous ftp for download with the drawback that it is sometime difficult to identify users blocking the data transfer by, e.g., too many parallel downloads. Such problems could be managed better in the case of registered users. Another nice feature of this registration is to get some user information/statistics. Is it worthwhile to think about that or not? (IGS-RT also requests a registration before providing permission to connect to data streams.)

    We are scheduled to have an IGS Data Center Working Group meeting during the 2012 IGS Workshop in Olsztyn Poland. Our WG will be convening on Wednesday, July 25. I would like to solicit topics from the group for discussion. Please send me any ideas in the next two weeks. Also, please let me know your willingness to participate in the session.
