Dear Colleagues
Our Tonga members experienced communications difficulties during the June 12 meeting #4. Therefore there was considerable messaging on the chat line led by the Director of the Geospatial Information Services. Halalilika Erika. I thank Tonga for these important contributions. I apologize that I did not engage during the meeting simply because I paid all attention to the video meeting. Thees important messages are highlighted below.
For those who will attend the IUGG, I am working to encourage the GRC to host a Brunch on Sunday July 16 for a combined hybrid meeting of the GRC and the GTEWS_Oceania which has been identified as an important project of the GRC. Please let me and Katia Kontar know if you can attend this Meeting Brunch on Sunday July 16.
Zoom Chat file for June 12the meeting of GTEWS_Oceania:

00:53:34 Tom Beer: Apologies but I must now depart. Tom
00:53:41 SPC_Andrick Lal: Malo Halalilika, Welcome to the Group.
00:56:07 Ryan Ruddick: sorry have to go - will try and get back before the end.
00:57:52 SPC_Andrick Lal: Reacted to "sorry have to go - w..." with 👍
00:58:28 halalilika Etika: Sorry there is still an echo from my side and I cannot hear well the discussion
01:18:25 Halalilika 'Etika: Hello Tonga Geodetic really needs support on upgrading GNSS infrastructure. They need to build the capacity and capability on how to utilize modern equipment and even using modern equipment for monitoring emergency services
01:21:17 Halalilika 'Etika: I suggest also to develop a portal of GNSS network for the Pacific so that we could identify the gaps
01:23:20 SPC_Andrick Lal: Hi Halalilika, please refer to the link https://gnss.ga.gov.au/network for the regional GNSS network.
01:25:35 Halalilika 'Etika: Thanks Andrick, there are only 2 GNSS in Tonga, is it possible to establish more.
01:25:59 Bill Fry: Thanks John and others! Great meeting and even better initiative. I have to go to a 2pm meeting. Looking forward to seeing how this work progresses and doing what I can to ensure mutual gain for complementary work streams in IOC-PTWS and NZ. Thanks again!
01:26:42 TONGA-MLNR-Taaniela Kula: Tonga also supports the suggestions from Andrick regarding the processing of the geodetic monitoring data and accessible to the stakeholders in real time like the global seismic network.
01:28:10 TONGA-MLNR-Taaniela Kula: Information needs to arrive timely for consideration before releasing Early Warning for Tsunamis
01:33:23 Léo Martire: Great to hear about the installation of an infrasound IMS I support the station in Tonga!
01:33:50 Léo Martire: I have to jump to another meeting, thanks all for the insightful comments. I will keep those in mind and will attempt to follow these efforts (thanks, John!).
01:33:52 Léo Martire: Cheers!
01:34:14 Viliami Folau: Thank you John for putting together this workshop...Just before I leave for another meeting...I believe we already have a good network in the region for this purpose..I believe we have enough to work on and build our capacity in GTEWS in processing GNSS data...but we need our stations to have real time capabilities and also have more stations... also we are working with Tim Melbourne on GNSS for Tonga..regards Vili
01:34:40 Viliami Folau: Will keep in touch via email
01:34:54 Halalilika 'Etika: That sounds great
01:38:18 TONGA-MLNR-Taaniela Kula: It is reasonable for Tonga
01:38:53 SPC_Andrick Lal: Am okay with the timing too.
With Warm Regards,
John
